It’s exciting enough that Godzilla vs Kong will finally open in L.A and N.Y.C. With L.A cinemas receiving the greenlight in just the last few weeks, with New Your City reopening just before that, this finally means access to one of the largest markets domestically is opening up. Godzilla vs Kong could be the litmus test for box office recovery, especially as it will also be debuting on the HBO Max streaming service simultaneously.

ugh somewhat harsh occupancy limits remain in place at cinemas across North America, we have finally seen the anchor markets in Los Angeles and New York City reopen, with supportive attendance too. 

 

We’re also seeing week-on-week rises in consumer confidence regarding the exhibition industries. More and more people are returning to the theaters, especially those who have had at least one vaccine dose to add confidence. We’re finally approaching a spot where confidence is about equal to that pre-pandemic. Encouragingly, we’re also seeing more people aware of the reopening of theatre facilities in their neighborhood, and actively expressing their intent to watch a movie on the Big Screen.
