With California finally entering the less-restrictive ‘Red Tier’ of coronavirus restrictions, BLAKE & WANG P.A Entertainment lawyer Los Angeles are happy to report that the long-shuttered L.A theatrical exhibition industry can finally go back to work.

While 25% capacity restrictions are in play, the news was, naturally, received with great joy throughout the industry. We’ve seen effusive statements from Cinemark, the nation’s 3rd-largest chain, in which he rushes to assure people of both an enhanced movie-consuming experience and a pandemic-free, safe excursion. CEO Mark Zoradi was also quick to point out that they have plenty of blockbusters lined up for the coming months.

This now leaves around 90% of the Cinemark chain open throughout the U.S. AMC, of course, were quick to follow with statements, again emphasizing not only a positive experience, but the health and safety protocols in place throughout their chain. These measures include advanced air filtration, social distancing, extensive cleaning, and other protocols developed alongside trusted Harvard health professionals.

There’s no wonder the news of the long-awaited reopening was so well received. L.A represents about double the market that New York City presents. With NYC also shuttered until only a few weeks ago, it’s been a massive movie going market denied to the exhibition industry. And, in New York at least, the continued prohibition was seen as nonsensical, for the most part, with very similar industries greenlit long before cinemas. The near-year-long shutdown of these critical industries has had knock-on effects, not only for the exhibition industry, but for movies and releases overall.

L.A has long been seen as the movie capital of the world. No doubt watching the lights return to their long-shuttered theaters will bring a collective sigh of relief throughout the industry. BLAKE & WANG P.A Entertainment attorney hopes the Los Angeles public comes out in support, too.
