Amazon Prime and Lionsgate have entered into a significant new deal to boost Lionsgate’s streaming exposure. To share the story with us, we have our entertainment lawyer in the know from Blake & Wang P.A, Brandon Blake, with all the facts so far.

New Deal for 2025/2026
The deal will see select Lionsgate titles from this year, as well as their full 2026 slate, hit Amazon Prime Video’s streaming service shortly after their theatrical windows close. However, Starz still takes priority, streaming exclusively for a short window. Amazon, too, receives an exclusive streaming window thereafter.
The multi-year deal could cover as many as 20 Lionsgate titles per year for US viewers, although we don’t yet know how long each exclusive window period will be. Along with the modern releases covered under the deal, Prime Video will also be licensing many of Lionsgate’s older library titles for the streamer.
Upcoming Titles
To date, Lionsgate has theatrical releases slated for Now You See Me 3 and the next installment in The Hunger Games franchise for 2026. It’s a little less clear which of their 2025 titles will shift to the streamer, but Lionsgate currently has Flight Risk in theaters. Plus, of course, the spinoff from the John Wick IP, Ballerina. There’s also another Saw movie due for release later this year, as well as the comedy Good Fortune and a Michael Jackson biopic.
As for library titles? Lionsgate has plenty to appeal to viewers. Alongside The Hunger Games, it is also the home of the John Wick, Saw, and Twilight franchises, so there’s plenty of appealing IPs for them to choose from.
As with Sony, Lionsgate has no real significant streaming presence. While they are continuing to support Starz, even as the two companies spin off from each other, it has limited subscriber reach. A deal with Amazon, currently one of the largest streaming platforms behind Disney+ and Netflix, could be lucrative indeed.
